Borscht Festival in Kristiansand: Taste of Culture and Unity

In Kristiansand, the Livet vil vinne team organized a Borscht Festival. The event brought together local residents and tourists, introduced Norway to Ukrainian cuisine and culture, and helped raise funds for humanitarian aid.

This is the best team 🥰 LIVET VIL VINNE. It wasn’t easy, but we did it! 🔥

We received many warm comments from Norwegians:

“We’re happy we can talk with you in Norwegian, and that you open the door to Ukrainian culture.”

There were also many visitors from Germany, Sweden, and Denmark, as well as guests from Arab countries — with them we spoke English. People thanked us for the chance to discover Ukraine through food, hospitality, and openness.

Festival menu:

  • Green borscht (sorrel)

  • Borscht with chicken

  • Borscht with pork

  • Varenyky (potato dumplings)

  • Pampushky with garlic

  • Cabbage rolls (holubtsi)

  • Pirozhky, muffins, meringues

Handmade market:
Woodwork, jewelry, candles, toys, décor, and items with Ukrainian symbols — all lovingly made by Livet vil vinne volunteers.

Volunteers & fundraising:
Livet vil vinne volunteers from more than 10 municipalities helped run the charity lottery, baking, and crafts. Together we raised funds for humanitarian aid.

Music & atmosphere:
A Ukrainian band performed favorite songs and instrumental pieces. The mood was friendly and open: new connections, good conversations, many smiles, and photos to remember the day.

Thank you:
A big thank-you to Kristiansand for the warm welcome, and to all volunteers and guests who made the day unforgettable. Livet vil vinne will continue creating events that bring together culture, charity, and community.
